LIPOSUCTION OR FAT SUCTIONING  View Gallery
Until two decades ago, people thought that staying "Chubby" is nice, "Health is Wealth " and so on. The current fancy however is to "Stay Slim and trim and Keep fit ". Exercise centers, weight reduction clinics, wrap clinics and exercise tapes are seen all over the world today, trying to help the people melt their extra fat away.

Lipectomy means " removal of fat " by surgery. In suction assisted lipectomy or liposuction the surgeon loosens and removes fat from the fat from any accessible area of the body

Localized fat collection of the abdomen, flanks, hips, thighs, calves, buttocks, arms, under the chin, upper torso, breasts, etc can be reduced by this procedure.

Liposuction is neither a substitute for a dieting nor a cure for obesity. Persons with a reasonably normal weight and young, healthy, elastic skin, but with excessive localized fat in certain areas, get the best results from this procedure. Results are permanent and the suctioned fat never returns to the area with proper aftercare.

In liposuction, the patient not only loses weight, but also attains improvement in the contour of the body- you can loose 4” to 6” or even more from your waist-line. Up to 6 litres of fat can be suctioned safely in one sitting, although more can also be done depending on the individual case and weight of the patient. The procedure is done under general or local anesthesia and requires few hours stay at the hospital only - the patient can go back to work in a few days.

Dr. Khanna has performed more than 700 cases of liposuction till date (15/12/2007). You can see pre- and post-operative photos of some of his patients in the Photo Gallery.

ABDOMINOPLASTY OR TUMMY-TUCK  View Gallery
A bulging abdomen invites comments like," it is a sign of prosperity " or " She must be pregnant." For these persons, cosmetic surgery could provide the answer by Abdominoplasty or tummy tuck. This operation is helpful for women who after having children, have relaxed loose abdominal skin. It is very effective in those patients who have lost excessive weight by successful dieting but now have loose abdominal skin in the lower abdomen.

During abdominoplasty, the redundant fold of the skin is resected. If someone also has excess of fat, combination of liposuction is done along with the skin resection. During abdominoplasty, the abdominal wall muscles are also tightened to restore the tone lost during pregnancy. The abdomen is given a new shape to give a "Flat Stomach " if possible.

This surgery takes approximately 2 to 4 hours and requires general anesthesia (total unconsciousness.) The usual hospital stay is 1 to 3 days, depending upon the individual's response.
